Therapeutic Horsemanship

High Horse Hill is first and foremost a therapeutic horsemanship program, providing healing, strengthening and personal growth through learning about and interacting with horses.  Lessons are available to individuals of all ages who may have a variety of physical, emotional or learning disabilities.  We serve 1-2 individuals for one or two hour lessons, educating individuals on horse care, unmounted ground work, mounted riding and life skills education, utilizing games, exercises and adventures.

"Riding feels really free and Katey makes it feel safe.  Katey knows her horses so well it seems like she knows what they are thinking."  B.B., Great Barrington, MA

"My son loves riding Katey's horses.  Her ability to give clear instructions made him feel safe and comfortable from the beginning.  Going there makes both of us feel so peaceful."  J.B., Great Barrington, MA

"My kids and I have so enjoyed learning about horses with Katey at High Horse Hill.  We have found a peaceful connection to these gentle animals (and each other).  We have improved posture, balance, confidence, communication and listening skills.  Katey is full of all sorts of equine knowlege and fun while focused on safety, always.  Each week we look forward to our next visit with Doc, Angel and Katey."  C.F., Becket, MA

Be safe, be brave, have fun!

Remember when all you wanted in life was a pony; how every time you saw a horse standing in a field you wanted to stop the car, rush over and smell that special horsey aroma?  Come and learn (or relearn) from the ground up the joys of spending quality time with our kind horses.  Learn the hows and whys of horsemanship to give you the skills and understanding to enjoy the pure pleasure of the ride!  Activities can include
grooming, tacking, groundwork and mounted work.

"I highly recommend the Women Reconnecting With Horses Program with Katey Grey.  Her calm demeanor and confident, firm teaching style creates a safe, well guided space for practice.  She has genuine love and respect for her well-trained horses, exquisite gardens and grounds.  Thank you for the experience and for re-kindling my love of all-things-horses, Katey!"
R.P., Roxbury, MA
